The House

Lovingly restored in 2017/2018, the vision for its owners, the Mansi family, is to provide a real sanctuary away from day-to-day life. With the privacy and flexibility of a self-catering holiday, but with the cosseting luxury of a hotel, La Retraite will offer flexible accomodation for 8, focusing on providing child-friendly amenities so the whole family can relax and enjoy their stay.

The house has been painstakingly brought back to life with the perfect blend of modern day luxuries with locally sourced antiques.

Known locally as the ‘Chateau d’Oyer’, the imposing historial building can be seen for miles around, nestled at the centre of Oyer, a hamlet just outside Ruffec in rural Charente.

With its face turned towards the sun, the handsome 18th century home overlooks the rolling countryside, surrounded by arable land and sunflower fields. The country lanes and surrounding woodland provide ample walks, with the river Charente only 3km away with fantastic river beaches and kayaking opportunities.
